Without hope, it’s hard to imagine a better future but hope alone isn’t sufficient. If you have done the hard work, asking for a stroke of good luck or leniency to come your way is fine. In other words, hope is hard work.

Before exam results are declared, there is a sudden influx of students and their parents visiting temples, ostensibly to pray for the almighty’s blessings. Some have genuinely worked hard and visit a place of worship hoping that their efforts bear fruit, while others are praying for a miracle, hoping against hope that their average efforts will some how culminate in great results.

One thing is for sure — you cannot achieve anything great just by visiting a place of worship everyday and asking for blessings without putting in the requisite work. A place of worship gives people a positive vibe, a hope that things will turn out for the best.

This goes beyond exam results. It’s easy to make a big deal of hope and big promises without backing them up with the work that is required.

Working and then wishing and waiting is better than just merely wishing and waiting.
