‘Hindsight is like foresight without a future’ — Kevin Kline

The Air Crash Investigation program on National Geographic dissects threadbare the reasons for a flight crashing . The narration makes it all the more dramatic and in most cases, viewing it evokes one response — ‘how did they miss that’?

When you look back at any event, job or relationship that went awry, it’s always easier to spot the red flags, the mistakes and the missteps. That’s also because when something doesn’t go according to plan, everything is analysed to figure out what can be improved upon the next time around in order to avoid repeating the same mistakes.

Sometimes, optimism and hope get it in the way of us acknowledging genuine red flags. And if you are constantly on the look out for red flags, you will not take any risks and will see the negatives in anything that you undertake. Red flags also double up as red lights.

We can all get better at making decisions. This includes spotting genuine red flags.

If anything, a missed red flag tells you what to look out for the next time around.
